Located off the main road of Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, Donald & Lily is a quaint little place serving peranakan food. I first came across this eatery while looking for a parking spot near to Jonker Street.

I couldn’t resist the assam fish – the fish was fresh and went really well with the light tangy gravy.

The ayam pongteh (nyonya soy braised chicken) was delicious. I would ask for extra rice just to soak up the savory gravy. For a taste of traditional peranakan cuisine, do give this a try.

I thoroughly enjoyed nasi minyak. The rendang chicken was tender and well-seasoned with spices. Surprisingly, the rice was not too oily.

The cendol was pretty good, though I still prefer the one at Jonker 88 with its thick syrupy gula melaka.

I wanted to try the laksa, but was too full by then. Maybe next time.
