Mael’s Cafe at Mines, Seri Kembangan

Catering to the office crowd in Sapura building at Mines, Mael’s café serves both local and western cuisine. Named after its chef – Ismael, and dyslexic for meal, I thought the name is pretty cool.
The food is simple and wholesome. What I enjoy most here is the set lunch which includes a starter, main course and dessert, priced at only RM18.90.
Mael has a flair for fusing local & western ingredients. I’ve had much fusion cuisine gone wrong, but Mael marries the flavours effortlessly. Once, I was pleasantly surprised being served a corn beef sandwich with a local twist.
Another time, he combined curry chicken with olives & bell peppers on a pizza base.
Tandoori chicken with couscous…the chicken was alright, but for me, the real winner was the couscous – fluffy, flavourful and moist.
My only complain, if at all, is that there isn’t enough set meals to cater to the hungry crowd. Come early to avoid disappointment.
Opens Monday to Friday, 7a.m. – 7p.m.
