• On Nut and that awesome restaurant in Bangkok

K and I spent a wonderful weekend in Bangkok recently, eating and shopping.

Our friend recommended The Bedrooms Hotel in On Nut – a 10-minute train ride away from the city centre. I couldn’t be more pleased. On Nut turns out to be a pleasant suburban area with lots of great food. There is a wet market across the hotel, and the night market is just a short walk away.

Catering mainly to the Thais, the prices here are local too, without the usual tourist mark-up. A one-hour massage in On Nut cost 150 baht.

The rooms at The Bedrooms are spacious, modern and value for money (from 1200 baht per night).

This boutique hotel is about 5 minutes walk to On Nut MTR station and just across the Big C supermarket. Suvarnabhumi airport is a short cab ride away costing less than 300baht. K and I will definitely make this our home on every subsequent trip to Bangkok.

A friend who has been staying in Bangkok for the past few years, brought us to this awesome restaurant along Soi Sukhumvit 77, a few minutes’ drive from the hotel. The place was packed on our weekday visit and it’s great to note that the crowd was mainly local.

We ordered several dishes including an excellent Thai steamed fish. Our bill came up to less than 1300 baht for 3 persons, plus beer and drinks.

I couldn’t figure out the restaurant’s name as the signboard is in Thai but you can click here for the Google map. This restaurant is just across TMB bank.
