I am smitten by this traditional eel, pie and mash shop in Broadway Market, Hackney, East London.

With its cheery pastel yellow wall tiles and quaint furniture, F. Cooke has been here since 1900s.

    Antique eel sign. Traditional menu.

    Robert Cooke, the charming owner.

Handmade beef pies, served with mashed potatoes and parsley-based gravy (known as ‘liquor’).

Jellied eels quite hard to come by. I was pleasantly surprised with its nice, slightly chewy texture.

When I initially left a comment I seem to have clicked on the
-Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the same comment.
There has to be a means you are able to remove me from that service?
      Thanks!

Hi Slushy, sorry about this. I’m not very familiar with these IT stuff but let me see what can be done. Sorry again.
