101 years and still going strong

It’s not very often we get to savour traditional Teochew fare in a century-old eatery.
With 101 years of history, Restoran Teochew Setapak is becoming a rarity, serving classic Teochew dishes and pastry. Now into its third generation, this family owned business is still going strong.
Few of the popular dishes here are Teochew-style white bee hoon, Hokkien mee, fishcakes and fish balls. The noodles for Hokkien mee, fish balls and fish cakes are all made in-house.
The bakery upstairs churns out traditional Teochew biscuits with preserved vegetables, mung bean and red bean filling.
For mid-autumn festivals, they offer classic Teochew mooncakes. The yam paste moon cake is especially popular. When we were there earlier today, a freshly baked batch was snapped up within minutes!
